Nadat de VDN op haar Algemene ledenvergadering van 15 juni de onwrikbare standpunten van danssportorganisaties IDSF/NADB enerzijds en Fred Bijster (organisator van het internationale evenement in Assen) anderzijds had vernomen, heeft de VDN achter de schermen een bemiddelingstraject gestart.
Deze bemiddeling heeft ertoe geleid dat thans de IDSF/NADB geen sancties zullen opleggen aan Nederlandse paren die deelnemen aan ASSEN 2007. Dit betekent dat alle Nederlandse paren zonder problemen kunnen deelnemen aan wedstrijden in Assen. Feit is wel dat het geen officiële wedstrijd is, omdat Assen niet voldoet aan de regels die de IDSF aan wedstrijden stelt. Om die reden zal deze wedstrijd dan ook niet op de wedstrijdkalender van de NADB/IDSF voorkomen. Een uitzondering hierop vormt de Closed Dutch. Dit is wel een officiële wedstrijd omdat hier alleen NADB/IDSF-paren aan meedoen.
De VDN is uitermate verheugd met deze succesvolle interventie en gaat er van uit hiermee alle dansliefhebbers een goede dienst te hebben bewezen.

August 6th, 2007 Assen: VDN successful - breakthrough for Dutch dancers
After learning the incompatible points of view of dancesport organisations IDSF and NADB [1] on the one hand and 'Assen' organizer Fred Bijster [2] on the other hand during the VDN general member meeting of June 15th (see movie in news archive, Dutch spoken), Dutch dancers association VDN started a mediation process behind the scenes.
This mediation secured that IDSF/NADB will not penalize Dutch dance couples entering competitions held at the Assen Dance Festival in November 2007. This means that all Dutch dance couples are allowed to participate.
Fact is, however, that the international competitions during the Assen Dance Festival are not registered by NADB because Assen does not meet the IDSF competition rules. For this reason these competitions will not appear on the NADB/IDSF competition calendar.
Note: the Closed Dutch competition will be registered by NADB (so it will be an official competition) due to the fact that only NADB/IDSF dance couples will be allowed to enter.
Dancers association VDN is delighted with this successful intervention and trusts in having contributed to all friends of our beautiful dancesport.
